God’s word lays out the role of government. Isaiah 33:22 declares, “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us.” God’s law reveals that He Himself holds the positions of authority. Civil government is therefore derivative; it only works rightly when it reflects God’s authority.
