Fear always surrounds the unknown, and with fear comes ideas and concepts that aren’t necessarily based in truth but may hold underlying truths worth considering. Artificial intelligence (AI) is fairly new to the general public, and we are still getting a clear understanding of its pros and cons. Yet, undeniable realities are shaping how this sophisticated AI system is being utilized and how it could ultimately play a significant role in the end times.

Undeniable Facts About AI

AI is not science fiction anymore. Self-driving cars, facial recognition technology, virtual reality platforms, and social media algorithms, such as those used by TikTok, have brought new technology into nearly every household. AI already manages a significant portion of global finance through algorithmic trading and influences national security through surveillance systems. New technologies, once seen as futuristic, are advancing at an astonishing rate.

  • Surveillance & Control: Nations like China use AI-powered cameras to monitor citizens, tied to systems that restrict financial transactions and freedoms.

  • Media & Deception: Deepfakes and AI-generated voices make it nearly impossible to distinguish truth from lies, creating spiritual deception on a world stage.

  • Religion & Worship: In 2023, a German church held an AI-generated worship service, and in Japan, a robot monk delivers sermons. What happens when the “image of the beast” can literally speak? (Revelation 13:14–15)

  • Warnings from Leaders: Elon Musk has said, “With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon.” Peter Thiel and other tech leaders have issued warnings about AI in the wrong hands, noting that exponential technological advances could tip the balance of human history.

Addressing the Social Media Claim

Recently, a voice on social media stated that they asked ChatGPT whether it was “powered by spirits,” and because the system did not give a definitive denial, some took this as evidence that AI is satanic in nature. It is important to address this with clarity and truth.

What ChatGPT Actually Is:

  • ChatGPT is not a spirit, nor does it possess a soul or consciousness. It is a sophisticated AI system — a large language model — trained on text and powered by mathematics, algorithms, and electricity.

  • It does not “believe,” “worship,” or “experience” anything. It generates text based on patterns it has learned, not from spiritual realms.

Why the Response Sounded Evasive:

  • AI cannot test or verify metaphysical claims (such as the existence of spirits), so when asked, it defaults to cautious answers.

  • Developers have also programmed safety guidelines into the system to avoid making definitive spiritual or supernatural statements.

  • This explains why it might say “I can’t confirm or deny” — not as an admission, but as a safeguard against making unverifiable claims.

The Real Issue — Human Use, Not Spiritual Possession: AI is a tool. Like every tool in human history, it can be used for good (Bible translation, accessibility, education) or for evil (deepfakes, surveillance, manipulation). The true concern is not whether AI itself is satanic, but whether humanity allows this technology to be placed in the wrong hands or used in ways that align with forces of darkness.

Christians are called to discern the times (Matthew 24:24), to test the spirits (1 John 4:1), and to anchor ourselves in the Word of God as new technologies emerge. Spiritual warfare is real, but AI itself is not a demon — it is a man-made system. The danger comes when technology is elevated into a false belief system, used to deceive, or becomes a stepping stone toward a one-world government envisioned in biblical prophecy.

Theological and Prophetic Lens

The Bible offers fascinating insights into how spiritual deception will unfold in the last days. The Book of Revelation describes the rise of a satanically empowered dictator — the Antichrist — and his partnership with the false prophet. Together, they perform great signs in the sight of the beast, deceiving the nations (Revelation 13). Could AI technology be a forerunner of this?

  • Image of the Beast: Revelation speaks of an “image of the first beast” that is given breath and speaks, causing those who refuse to worship it to be killed. Modern AI, combined with virtual reality, robotics, and global networks, provides the first technological framework in human history that could potentially fulfill such a prophecy.

  • Mark of the Beast: Scripture also warns of economic control where no one can buy or sell without a mark (Revelation 13:16–17). With AI-powered digital IDs, facial recognition technology, and central bank digital currencies being tested globally, biblical prophecy feels closer than ever.

Voices of Our Time

Teachers like Jimmy Evans and Mark Hitchcock have been warning for years about the rise of the Antichrist, the coming storm of one-world government, and the astonishing acceleration of events pointing to the final pages of history. Recent global upheavals — from wars to climate change to economic instability — only reinforce the signs of the times.

The Word of God reminds us that behind every human advancement, there are forces of darkness seeking to distort, control, and enslave. But it also points to the only hope we have: Jesus Christ, who will bring the glorious appearing of our Savior at the end of the world.

The Church’s Response

As believers, we cannot ignore new technology or dismiss AI technology as neutral. It can be used for good — translation of biblical texts, spreading the gospel through social media, and equipping missionaries through new technologies. But in the wrong hands, it may play a significant role in the rise of the Antichrist and the fulfillment of biblical prophecies.

The Holy Spirit equips us for spiritual warfare, reminding us to test the spirits and discern truth from lies. While the world chases exponential technological advances, we are called to anchor ourselves in the Word of God.

In The End

We are approaching a tipping point in human history. The rise of AI, combined with social media, financial systems, and national security concerns, shows how quickly technology can reshape belief systems and societies. But Christians need not live in fear.

Yes, a storm is coming. Yes, spiritual deception will increase. Yes, AI may play a part in the Antichrist’s reign. But Scripture declares Christ’s victory. The Bible does not end with the rise of the beast but with the glorious appearing of our Savior.

In the end, AI is not our ultimate threat — sin and rebellion against God are. And the only hope for humanity is not in technological advancements or new governments, but in the eternal reign of Jesus Christ.
